HISTORY
Tazewell Presbyterian Church celebrated the sacrament of Holy
Communion to begin the New Year on January 2nd. The very next Sunday the
church ordained and/or installed a new class of Elders to the Session.
January also saw the welcome completion of the renovations to the
Fellowship Hall and the rest of the downstairs of the church to allow
the Sunday school classes to return to their respective rooms. This was
accomplished with help from many church members who cleaned and also
installed additional finishing touches to the area.
For several years Tazewell Presbyterian Church has hosted a monthly
Community Outreach luncheon for Seniors in our town. This monthly event
continued throughout 2005. A dedicated group of church members spearhead
this event with help from the church circles for desserts. A variety of
speakers are invited to come and share lunch and talk about topics of
interest to the participants. This is a good time of fellowship for those
attending.
The establishment of local, national or international mission teams has
been an ongoing project for Tazewell Presbyterian Church for many years. In
2005 the goal was to go to an area in Mexico on an international mission
trip.
