The family of Dillard Keene wishes to express our gratitude to the
members of the Tazewell Presbyterian Church for their loving support of our
beloved Dillard. The gifts of food, prayers, cards and expressions of
sympathy were greatly appreciated. Thanks to the Kitchen Committee who
worked so tirelessly to make sure Dillard’s family was fed after the
funeral.

Letter received from Clyde & Lila Barker, Auburn, Georgia
To Tazewell Presbyterian Church; Men and Women of the Kitchen Committee..
Thank you so much for the meal that you provided for the family of
Dillard Keene. I know you worked so very hard and this project was very
time-consuming for each of you...and there was so much food for so many
people. Other than feeding us, you provided time for us to be together to
visit with one another before we departed for Michigan, Delaware, Maryland,
Kentucky, North Carolina, Florida and Georgia - plus many places in Virginia
and West Virginia. This was very special too.
Will keep you lifted in prayer for your future endeavors at your church.
Your gift to our family is so much appreciated. Take care of Sue for
us...she is a wonderful lady and is loved so much by the family. Thanks
again,
Love,
Lila Barker (and Clyde)
(Also a Braves fan...for the lady I talked to about the Braves...)

From the Children’s Home...
(Barbara Wilson, PW Children’s Home representative)
“Your kindness through the holiday season was much appreciated. We are
most privileged to have friends like you. We hope your New Year is filled
with love and joy.” Thank you.

From Medical Benevolence Foundation...Letter to Church...
“Thank you for your gift to MBF for medical mission. This donation is a
new year’s blessing to our partners overseas and a reminder of your
faithfulness and God’s provision as all of us look forward with anticipation
to the coming year...
As I write this, our partners in Pakistan and Kenya are dealing with a
great deal of political uncertainty and unrest, and they are deeply
concerned about what 2008 will hold for them. Please continue to pray for
our partners’ safety and for peace to reign in the world.
With gratitude for your generosity, I look forward to how Tazewell
Presbyterian Church and MBF will serve Christ together in this new year!”

What does it really matta’
If Charlie sees his shadda’?
It doesn’t mean a thing
Cause winter comes - then spring.
In spite of bad poetry, in this section of the country the change of
seasons is inevitable. Each one has its blessings. In winter we celebrate
the birth of the Christ child. In spring we celebrate His resurrection. In
summer we celebrate God’s gift of warming sun. In the autumn we celebrate
His glorious color.
Even on these dark winter days, most of us would not want to live
anywhere else. We find joy in the hope of what is to come. God sends that
message through His Son, so we do not have to fear the future. When we
finish celebrating seasons on earth, He will be waiting for us in heaven.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace, as you trust in
Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
(Romans 15:13)
Father,
Thank You for the hope that You have given us through Your Son. Never let
us lose sight of the joy to come. In Your name we pray. Amen.

Letter received from Habitat for Humanity...
TO: Tazewell Presbyterian Church
Dear Sir or Madam,
On behalf of Habitat for Humanity of Tazewell County, I would like to
thank you for your generous donation in 2007. Your commitment to helping us
make affordable housing available to Tazewell County families in need is
sincerely appreciated.
Each year Habitat for Humanity strives to build at least one home in our
community. We exist to provide families a hand up - not a hand out. Through
the generous support of individuals like you, we are able to ensure that a
family in need will realize their dream of home ownership.
Again, thank you so much for your dedication to Habitat for Humanity of
Tazewell County and your generous support of our efforts to improve our
community, one home at a time. /s/ Vicki G. Mullins Secretary, Board of
Directors Habitat for Humanity of Tazewell County

From Mount Rogers Combined School...
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the faculty, staff, and student body of Mount Rogers
Combined School, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for your
Christmas visit. Our students look forward to this tradition each year with
anticipation, and once again you went above and beyond to make it a special
event. May your generosity be returned to you in ways large and small!
May God bless!
Judy H. Greear

Our tradition of Tenebrae is being continued this year. Please
plan to attend this important Good Friday event. Tenebrae is a service that
begins in light and ends in darkness, as we recall Christ’s journey to the
cross. The service consists of Scripture, music, and successive
extinguishing of candles until we conclude in the darkness and silence that
recall the crucifixion.
Many members have called this our most meaningful and most important
service of the year, as it reaches to the heart of our faith and prepares us
to fully embrace the joy of Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Please plan to
attend and to invite friends and neighbors.

FESTIVAL OF HYMNS
Sunday, April 6th 5:00 P.M.
Please mark your calendar for this musically-exciting event, our Fourth
Annual Festival of Hymns. This is a service of singing by the congregation
and combined choirs of Tazewell Presbyterian and Main Street United
Methodist churches, along with accompaniment and special music provided by
music students of Southwest Virginia Community College under the direction
of Joey Trivette. In appreciation to them, a voluntary love offering will be
taken to benefit the Sacred Recital Series at SVCC.
This service is always rousing and delightful. We will enjoy the sounds
of brass, timpani, sax, violin, piano and organ in various ways; but more
important, we will raise our collective voices in praise through song.
Invite everyone you know; let’s fill the sanctuary and raise the roof!
