Advent Festival Monday, November 26th, 2007
It is hard to believe that it is almost time for our annual Advent
Festival. This year we will be doing things a little differently. We will
start with supper at 6:00 P.M. to give those who work time to get here.
There will be the usual and wonderful homemade soup - bring your own
sandwich and crackers; drinks will be provided.
We will have a tasting room in the Ladies’ Parlor where we can enjoy a
delicious treat before beginning work, so don’t forget to bring something
tasty from your kitchen to share in the tasting room. There will be crafts
in the Fellowship Hall, including the ever-popular Gingerbread Houses for
the children while the adults and teens decorate the sanctuary and Chrismon
tree.
Please plan to attend, not only for the fun and fellowship, but also to
make our already-beautiful church more beautiful for our Savior’s birthday.
Mark your calendar now to make room for this most joyous and meaningful
occasion.
The Alternate Giving will be offered again this year. There will be
forthcoming material in the bulletin and during the Advent Festival there
will be a table in the Chapel with information. If you have any question
about this, please contact Donna TePoel.

YOUTH BAKE SALE
The Youth will be having a bake sale on Saturday, October 27th, from
10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Sam’s Club in Bluefield. Donations of baked goods
from anyone who can donate will be much appreciated. The bake sale is to
raise funds to help with the expenses of “Resurrection”.
Please drop donations off at the church kitchen on Friday, October 26th.

I would like to express my deepest thanks to my church family for all the
cards, calls and food, but most of all for the many prayers during my recent
illness. Things are going well for me now but please keep me and my family
in your prayers.
In Christ,
Pam Irvin

“I lift up my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from? My help
comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121: 1-2)
It is the season of the year when our eyes naturally look to the
beautiful mountains which surround us. We only need to wander into our own
back yard to discover the colors which are being painted across the trees
and bushes in autumn. The beauty of our area always reminds me of the Lord,
Jesus Christ because He is the one who is responsible. He must have been
having a wonderful day when He created Tazewell. Let us give thanks daily to
the Lord for creating such amazing beauty around us.
This Psalm also reminds us that the Lord protects us and watches over us.
During the hard times in our life; whether it is during a time when we are
facing health problems, a death in the family, or facing difficult times
with friends, or dealing with stressful moments at work, at school, or at
home, the Lord keeps us from harm. We only need to have trust and faith that
God places His hands upon us and touches us with His love and protection.
“The Lord will keep you from all harm- He will watch over your life; the
Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” (Psalm
121:7-8)
Lord,
We thank You for the beauty which surrounds us during the autumn season and
for keeping us safe during changing times in our church, homes, schools, and
work places. Help us to remember that we only need to look up to You to ask
for Your loving touch as we face new and challenging times in our world, our
community, our homes, and our hearts. Amen
